Amanda Appleyard Moves Up to ME Bahamas '09 Rep
05 June 09 -- Amanda Appleyard of Paradise Island is the new Miss Bahamas Earth 2009. She replaced Ife Bethel Sears who decided to relinquish her crown for her studies. It was reported that Ife's College did not allow her to make a leave of absence for 2 1/2 months for her training and the Miss Earth Pageant Season.
Amanda becomes one of the youngest delegates of Miss Earth 2009 at 19 years old. She is towering beauty at 5'10" and measures 36-26-38. During the Bahamas Beauty Pageant 2009 final interview she said that it doesn't take a crown to promote her country but what is in her heart. She wants to be the people's ultimate beauty queen. She also said during the semifinal interview that she wants to advocate children's rights programs and become like a big sister to the children in the hope of providing them better childhood.
Amanda also won a the Best Interlac.
There were 15 delegates who competed for the national titles.
It is still yet to be determined who will occupy her vacated other national title post.
13 judges determined the three ladies most deserving of the national titles. They were Anthony Smith , Neil Alan Craig, Petherina Rosemarie Henfield-Hanna,Tanya Cecile McCartney, Brianna Pyfrom nee Clarke,Anita Wheeler, Dwight Constantine Hart, Matthew Marco, Cypriana McWeeney, Kristine Jennings Graham, Mark Humes, Zelena Maynard and Sharon Elaine Smith-Ferguson.
The Miss Bahamas 2009 was held on 24 May at the Rainforest Theatre, Nassau Wyndham Resortswas broadcasted live on television by ZNS which also streamed on the net through www.znsbahamas.com.
