Miss Cook Islands 2009 Beauty Pageant: A Night to Remember

27 Mar 09 -- The Miss Cook Islands 2009 Beauty Pageant will be held on April 3 at the National Auditorium of Rarotonga. It is expected to be an spectacular event.
Cook Islands is a widely spread country which comprises of 15 islands spread over 850,000 square miles (2.2 million square kilometres) of ocean in the middle of the South Pacific.

Miss Cook Islands '06, Krystina Te-Rangi Elizabeth Kauvai The current Miss Cook Islands or who they locally call as "Maine Kuki Airani" is Krystina Te-Rangi Elizabeth Kauvai. She is currently studying full time at Auckland University towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a part-time model. She will crown her successor on the pageant finals. She extends her very best wishes to all the contestants for this year’s Miss Cook Islands pageant. She said, "Do not hesitate to dream because dreams come true when you believe in them”.
Miss Cook Island Pageant focuses on the development of its young women. Its last bi-annual pageant took place on 16th June 2006 in Rarotonga.
The pageant's main partner is the Ministry of Culture. Other partners are Bergman & Sons, Perfumes of Rarotonga, Air New Zealand, The Bond, Rarotonga Surf Brands, Pacific Resort Hotels & Pitt Media Group. The delegates are named after their official Sponsors like Uirangi Bishop as Miss Bank of Cook Islands and Belinda Nganu as Miss Telecom Cook Islands.

Titles up for grabs are the Maine Kuki Airani (Miss Cook Islands), Maine Tapairu (1st Runner Up) and 2nd runner-up. Nine Miss Cook Islands candidates will vie for the national titles. The winners will receive cash and prizes prizes valued over $30,000.00.
The final pageant night with a theme "A Night to Remember" will be aired live from the National Auditorium at 6PM on April 3. It will be broadcasted on national radio and via internet on RADIO COOK ISLAND
International guests on the night are Miss South Pacific Vanessa Marsh and entertainer Joey Mataele. Performances from Miss Cook Islands 2006-2009 Krystina Kauvai, Manavanui Dance Team, Maine Tapairu Joyce Fortes, Janet Dearlove, & Kura Happ are also scheduled.(WE)
