30 Apr 2009 -- Very appropriate name for the event as the girls had fun as they walked the ramp, played games, got fun awards such as Ms. Shopaholic, Miss Forever Smile and the like (read the newspaper sash created for each title if you can from the pics).
All the girls looked really relaxed and they clearly enjoyed the avp of their prepageant activities including those of the reigning queens. In fact, I caught on camera the three reigning queens hugging and crying with happiness as the realized perhaps that all the fun during their year's reign is coming to an end or pehaps just crying out of happiness for the camraderie they found in the pageant.
The song numbers by Ms Passi and Ms Lil Earth were fantastic - truly world class in the quality of their renditions. And even I got into the act when I was picked to join the WOWOWEE game of hip hip hurray...but I was glad to have the opportunity to donate money for a good cause and Miss Antipolo was game....(WE)

Miss Earth Once Again "Up-ed" the Tempo in Charitable Event
01 May 09 -- Instead of having a fund-raising campaign in serious tone, Miss Earth Philippines made it fun! Such an innovation Carousel Productions is known for.
In the "Fun For a Cause" eco-fundraising event, held yesterday 30 April 2009 at the Crowne Plaza, the ladies were unassuming and are in their endearing selves. They have become even more beautiful. The ladies wearing the eco-friendly or recycled materials instead of looking drab are refreshing to see.
The pre-pageant heats have cooled down maybe due to very heavy rains. The ladies have developed camaraderie. It is fitting that the Miss Congeniality Award be announced during the event and this went to Kirstie Joan Barbo, 22, of Alegria/Cebu.
Miss Congeniality, Kirstie Joan Barbor, 22, Miss Alegria/CebuEnvironmental fashion awareness, though it is steadily becoming mainstream, would still need a bit more time to gain acceptance. Just by looking at the clothes, it may still take few more seasons to polish the crafts. Fashion designers need to discover, accept and look more closely on the materials they are dealing with.
I, myself, as part of the public, have learned to appreciate it's novelty. Eco-friendly fashion is not just fashion, it is beyond fashion. It is "fashion with a meaning". Instead of continuously procuring new materials that harms nature, why not use materials that are already there especially those that have passed their seasons and those materials that are eco-friendly and sustainable. We don't deserve the glamour of fashion if we hurt nature or don't return something back to revive it.
In a similar manner, my insight of paper has changed. I always use the back of the paper for my drafts. I just cannot trash it without re-using it. It gives me goosebumps realising that it is a tree - a beautiful living tree. I often say, "Poor tree!"
Anyway, Miss Earth is enjoying rave reviews now that it really pushes forward its cause through beauty pageant. It is not all glamour. The ladies have hearts. To be crowned as Miss Earth, even in national finals, like Miss Philippines Earth is a great honor. Miss Earth is not just a pageant it is beyond pageant. It is a pageant with a meaning.
