20 Apr 09 -- A burst of colors, culture and elan was witnessed today in the Miss Earth Philippines 2009 Cultural Night Presentation held today at 7pm at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Plaza in Makati City.

Around 50 environmental diplomats representing various provinces, cities, municipalities and overseas Filipino communities donned their respective local costumes designed by their fashion designers.
Now on it's 9th year, the Miss Philippines Earth Beauty Pageant is focusing on the green lifestyle, where daily eco-friendly habits are being promoted.Miss Philippines Earth 2008 Karla Paula Henry, who is also the reigning Miss Earth 2008, has been spreading this message as well as her personal campaign to teach the youth about environment preservation. She has travelled the country to lead tree-planting, coastal clean-up, and learning sessions through the "I Love My Planet Earth" community tours and "205K OK!" projects supervised by the Miss Earth Foundation, headed by its Executive Director, Catherine Untalan.

Photo: Konrad Ong, WETen (10) finalists will be chosen this year, where five (5) lucky ladies will be bestowed with the following titles: Miss Philippines Earth, Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism who will also be Miss PAGCOR, Miss Philippines Fire who will also be Miss Science and Technology, Miss Philippines Water and Miss Philippines Air.
Sandra Inez Seifert, one of the more popular delegates of this year's batch due to her earlier incident with another local national pageant, won two awards namely Best in Cultural Attire 2009 and Miss RCBC e.Woman. Sandra is 25 years old and she represents the province of Negros Occidental.

Our official photographer Konrad Ong covered the event and has these comments about some of the delegates whom he had an opportunity to see up close. He is particularly taken by the symmetrical facial beauty of the representative from Victorias province, Grezilda 'Adie' Adelantar. He finds Miss Quezon City, Patricia Marie Tumulak very pretty and Miss Baguio, Maria Raenalyn Guansing cute.
Miss Singapore 2008 Ivy Leow Kian Peng is also in the country to grace the event.
Tomorrow, 21 April, the Miss Photogenic will be announced during the Press Presentation at the Traders Hotel Manila.
The grand coronation night will be on May 10, 2009, Sunday, 7pm at the Arena Entertainment and recreational Center of the People of San Juan City. It will be telecast live by ABS CBN Channel 2 and the Filipino Channel.
The 2009 Miss Philippines Earth Beauty Pageant is focusing on the green lifestyle with the support of PAGCOR, RCBC e.WOMAN and RCBC Telemoney, Karilgan International Travel and Tours Corp., Gandang Ricky Reyes, COCOLIFE and Miss Earth Foundation.(WE)
