A Tribute to Queen Henry
10 May 2009 -- In a matter of hours, a new Miss Philippines Earth will be chosen.
Karla Henry, the outgoing Miss Philippines Earth 2008 will be turning over her crown. Karla in her interview with Philippine Daily Inquirer admits that she is sad that she is turning over her national title. Her fans share with her “half of this feeling” as she still continues her reign as Miss Earth 2008 which goes to the records as the most colorful one to date.

On Cathy Untalan’s, Miss Earth Foundation Executive Director, Multiply blog, Karla was warned as a Miss Philippines candidate then that, ‘If you’re here for the fame and glamour of being a beauty queen, then you’re in the wrong pageant. Here, we’re really serious about our advocacy. We really do get down and dirty with the activities that we do.” Karla has put the advocacy to her heart and championed it.
Karla’s reign is one that the next beauty queens will look up to. It is also on her reign that two World Records were listed. But her sincerity which is mistaken as naivety tops them. Even in her interview during the Philpost's 110th Anniversary, if I am not mistaken, she said that she doesn’t mind getting under the sun. I was taken aback a bit. In my thought, “No, not that! Please take care of your perfect luminous skin!”
Karla has sweet, untouched and charming beauty but beneath it is an achiever, in fact, a fighter; needless to say that she won the Miss Earth 2008 crown. Her father is very proud telling her that she made the right choices. She did not let anybody stop her on the quest of what she really wants in life. Funnily, on both occasions of her coronation, in the national and international Miss Earth finals, she asked to pause for a while, overwhelmed by a dream coming true! But earlier in competitions, you will see her undaunted confidence, sashaying the ramp, knocking every interview with intelligence, pleasant voice, conviction and class.

Karla has an assertive intelligence. On her interview with OPMB, the latter is qualifying her winning of the Miss Earth crown as a form of vindication. She quickly disagreed. She said that vindication is such a strong word that she would not choose for herself.
In a few more hours, Karla’s life will change. But change is inevitable so we must face it head on. After her reign, Karla now will be able to give undivided attention to her reign as Miss Earth 2008.
Lately, as many fans have noticed, Karla is getting more and more beautiful. Is this a sign that she is preparing for something big? Hold your breath guys! Cathy, on her communication with Woman of the Earth, confirms that Karla is headed to several countries in the next months. Karla's wishes to spread the pageant’s environmental advocacy and make Miss Earth known on a wider scale will be fulfilled.
Don’t be sad Karla that your reign as Miss Philippines Earth is going to end. The “twenty thousands” of trees will continue the grandeur of your reign even beyond your lifetime. And this is what you call a legacy.
As you will speak to the many, the world will listen. As you know what you are talking about.

Continue your walk on the Green Carpet. It is all yours Queen Henry!(WE)
