COUNTRY RANKING:>15 NATIONAL ORGANIZER:Miss Benelux Can you describe yourself, your background and the place where you are from? As a little girl I grew up together with my parents and my brother and sister. I am the eldest in the family of tree children. My mother is an independent hairstylist and my father is an employee. As an eighteen year old, I liked playing the guitar which I still do ‘til now, and to shop. On weekends, I enjoy going out with friends. Since I was a little girl, my dream job was to become a kindergarten teacher. Now, I am going through with my studies to become one. The town I live in is quaint, and we are gifted with beautiful natural beauty of the environment. There is always something to do or to see. Mol is known for its natural endowment of white sand and this resource is being used as a raw material in glass production. Because white sand is abundant, Mol harbours many small lakes within vicinity. What are your preparations for the upcoming Miss Earth? I made many preparations. I researched up on information about the elections and about the Philippines. A friend helped organised some more photo shoots. I had help from many people who had given me tips and pointers on wardrobe, relevant information, and great personal effort to improve myself. In your daily life, how are you able to practice environmental awareness? I am very aware of the importance of the environment. I only drive the car when it is deemed necessary. In my town, we also have very strict regulations on garbage disposal. At home, a part of our energy consumption is generated by solar power. Technology, what's your take on this for the environment? Positive or Negative? I believe technology has a positive effect on the environment. Thanks to many new inventions we can live “greener”. They constantly invent new technologies like greener cars of new ways to curve energy consumption and reduce harmful emissions. How important is winning the Miss Earth crown to you? Why? I would do my best to win the Ms Earth crown but losing would not be a big problem to me. I know it sounds very old-fashioned but participating for the experience alone is more important than winning the title. I am sure that this will be a great experience for me (and with the rest of the delegates) whether I win or lose. Do you think that Miss Earth has achieved its goal of spreading environmental awareness? Explain. Everyone that participates in Miss Earth must accomplish an environmental project. Of course this builds awareness for the delegates and the environment. I also think that the future Miss Earth must try to do her best to convince people to work on the improvement of applicable practices for a sustainable environment. There are sectors that say, global climate change is a hoax. What is your opinion on this? Global climate change is a stated fact; it is a phenomenon that we cannot deny anymore. We must work together to try to prevent its adverse effects to life in general, and the environment, in particular. But I do believe that the adverse consequences of global warming are being downplayed to great lengths of exaggeration by business entities that strongly benefit the status quo.
