Alejandra Castillo, Miss Earth Colombia 2009 actively promotes environmental causes in various places Colombia.  Although there are numerous environmental issues in her country, deforestation is of the major concerns.

Alejandra Castillo Muner was appointed Miss Earth Colombia 2009. She was selected among 6 international calibre candidates with major modelling portfolios and beauty pageant experiences. The jury responsible for the selection were Colombian Miss Earth franchise President, Tobon Elias, Amaury Echenique, Barranquilla designers and Hector Sanchez Elia Abuchaibe. They were joined in the deliberation by two former Miss Colombia Earth titleholders Mariana Rodriguez and Mileth Agamez and Miss Earth 2005 Alexandra Braun.
