COUNTRY RANKING:>15 NATIONAL ORGANIZER:Miss Earth Jamaica Can you describe yourself, your background and the place where you are from? My name is Jenaae Jackson, and I stand confident at 5'10” tall. I'm imaginative, outgoing, adventurous and optimistic. I love to travel, and try new things. I'm fascinated by different cultures, music, food and people. I'm always smiling and I love to laugh. I am from the beautiful paradise island of Jamaica, the third largest in the Caribbean. I was born in Jamaica’s bustling capital city of Kingston, located on the southeastern tip of the island. Set against a cool mountainous backdrop, Kingston is the cosmopolitan center of the country. Jamaica is rich in beautiful landscape and a vibrant unique culture. What are your preparations for the upcoming Miss Earth? My preparations for the upcoming Miss Earth mostly have been becoming more educated about the earth and being more environmentally aware. This cause is tremendously important to me, I learn more and more every day. Environmental Awareness is imperative to our earth, and this is my focus. As-well as my environmental studies, preparing my physique, keeping fit, eating healthy and choosing the right dress off course is also at the top of my priority list. In your daily life, how are you able to practice environmental awareness? In my daily life, I am able to practice environmental awareness in many ways because I am aware of how our individual carbon footprints strains on the environment. I turn off lights when I leave the room, and I recycle and re-use. I often walk to places like the supermarket to save gas and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide I emit into the atmosphere. Driving an average of 1,000 miles a month produces about 120 tons of carbon dioxide a year. You would be amazed how these much just these small efforts make. Technology, what's your take on this for the environment? Positive or Negative? I think that in the technologically advanced society that we live in today, technology is a positive thing. Scientist everyday is learning new ways to implement technology to improve the environment. Hybrid cars, energy efficient appliances are examples of this. Solar, Hydro, and Wind energy are amazing and improving technologies that when implemented definitely make a positive impact on the environment. How important is winning the Miss Earth crown to you? Why? Winning the Miss Earth crown to me would be an amazing accomplishment that I would be honored to have bestowed upon me. It is so important to me because it is something that I have put a lot of effort and time in preparing myself for. Most of all it is important to me because of the cause that the Ms Earth organization stands for. Protecting, saving and having people become more environmentally aware is a great cause and winning Miss Earth would give me the platform and opportunity to spread the word. Do you think that Miss Earth has achieved its goal of spreading environmental awareness? Explain. I absolutely think that the Miss Earth Organization has achieved its goal of spreading environmental awareness. Through each of its contestants from all over the world doing their part in their country of origin the message reaches an astonishing audience. This is a global effort. The sky is the limit. And together we can do this! There are sectors that say, global climate change is a hoax. What is your opinion on this? I am not a scientist however through my research, in my opinion there is no denying that climate change and global warming in happening. There will always be skeptics and everyone is entitled to their opinion however whether or not you believe climate change is a hoax doesn't take away the fact that our environment is suffering. Our lifestyle of waste, destruction and not giving back to our environment is not good and it needs to change. Any message to Woman of the Earth? “Woman of the Earth” is fabulous!
