MANILA, PHILIPPINES. Miss Singapore Earth 2009 Valerie Lim has arrived in the Philippines. She arrived wearing her sneakers. "I'm the only one in sneakers while they're in heels,” she exclaims. "They're all gorgeous and have huge luggage," she adds.
On her arrival to the Philippines she met some of the delegates like Misses Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico. She is bunking with Miss Malaysia temporarily since they have not moved in their official residence.

Can you describe yourself, your background and the place where you are from?
Because Singapore is a multi-racial and multi-cultural society, I’ve come to develop an open mind taking to the various cultures and customs of the different races locally. Flexibility is also a personal strength of mine owing to the myriad of experiences one can have here in Singapore. My flexibility shows when I work with kids. It enables me to cope with unpredictable situations and turn a bad situation into a good one. I may not be an eternal optimist, as it's crucial to have an objective view of things in life, but I do believe there always is a silver lining beyond the clouds at the end of every storm.

Valerie Lim was crowned Miss Earth Singapore 2009 last night 17 September 2009.
Valerie is 24 years old and stands 1.79m. She works as a Program Specialist. Her runner ups are Deborah Chan, Nur Amira and Stella Zheng.
