Madrid, Spain- Alejandra Echevarria,  who hails from Jaén, Spain will represent her country in the "beauties for a cause"  pageant, Miss Earth 2009. She won second runner up in the prestigious Miss Spain 2009 at a gala held in Cancun, Mexico.

 The winner of Miss Spain 2009, Estíbaliz Pereira of Coruña, had already competed in the Miss Universe 2009. The first runner-up, Laura Garcia of Grenada  will represent Spain in the 2009 edition of Miss World beauty pageant. Spain's representatives to Miss Europe 2009 and Miss International 2009 will come from the other 3 finalists of the pageant. Fifty-two contestants competed in the Miss Spain 2009.

In 2008, she was awaded Miss Congeniality during the Miss Jaén 2008 competition, aside from winning the title.
 
Alejandra, 19 years old, is also a professional singer and currently studying Business Administration and Management. She has been working part-time as a ramp and fashion model. She has been busy in the fashion world since she was named Miss Jaén 2008.

Alejandra  has a deep brown eyes and a beautiful smooth brown hair. She has a body measurements of 90-61-91. She stands 180m tall (5 feet and eleven inches in height). She was described by pageant enthusiasts and journalists as one of the most competitive contestants during the Miss Spain 2009 pageant.  She was an early favorite, both by the public and by the jury  during the Miss Spain competition. 


 
According to  Alejandra, she prefers participating to Miss Earth over Miss International pageant because it fits her personality, not to mention her  enthusiasm with nature and great interest in the preservation of the environment.
